DEVON HOLIDAY HOME
This lovely 2 bedroom cottage on an beautiful estate near Ivybridge, Devon is the holiday home of a Bristol based family I had worked for on their main house. They use it a lot themselves, but also let it out to holiday makers. It needed a bit of a refresh and some new bits of furniture, colour, soft furnishing and personality to elevate it. I worked on the whole house design, keeping the budget minimal and reusing what I could, of the things that were working.  Strength/durability, comfort and flexibility are key with a short let as well as the little things like hooks everywhere for coats, towels and coats!  I managed to fit a bijou dining area in where there was none before. Hallways are often sad, dark, neglected spaces, but the colour and hooks and new light and door curtain made this one of my favourite spaces in the house! With just a few light touches, it's gone from a bit dark, dated and neglected to feeling a lot fresher, more cosy and contemporary, whist retaining seaside cottage vibes.
