For ten years and across 4 London based companies, I headed up design departments specialising in providing furnishing and Interior Design solutions for landlords and developers. Latterly, 5 years for In:style Direct, which I helped grow into the market leader it is today. This was a high-speed, budget conscious sector, so there wasn't always the scope to be very creative. I became very adept at sourcing. project management, logistics, client-facing and dealing with extreme time pressures.
When dealing with investment property, the clients and agents involved usually prefer the 'safe' option. The sense of style or design was an almost by-the-by, secondary element which I tried to slip in, after the various practicalities and constraints were balanced! It was exciting, challenging and took me to some interesting places. Properties were usually done in contemporary styles in new-build apartments, I've furnished hundreds of flats-to-let, several show-flats and a few schemes for private clients. Here is a selection....
